Happy young woman on a urban backgraound

We all want to be happy, but many of us find maintaining a good mood exceedingly difficult when there are so many challenging things going on in the world, and in our own personal lives too.

That does not mean we should. However, give up o the pursuit of happiness completely – not when there are so many simple things we can do to be happy, or at least much happier than we currently are, every day.

Below, you will find some simple things you can do in your daily life to increase your happiness levels and feel better about yourself and your life going forward.

Get enough sleep

Making sure you get 7-9 hours of sleep each night is such a basic thing, but it is one that will enable you to be happier more often. When you don’t get enough sleep, your brain cannot work at optimal levels and this can lead to stress, fatigue, and depression, don’t let it happen by setitng up a regular sleep schedule, and sticking to it.

Do more of what you love

If you want to be happy every day, take some time each day to do the things you love the most, whether that be curling up with a good book, playing board games with your kids or volunteering at the local animal shelter. Life is too short to waste time on things you don’t enjoy.

Work a job you love

If you can find a job you love, and which has meaning to you, whether that means working at the Global Institute for the Elimination of diseases or setting up your own yoga studio, you will naturally find more happiness in day-to-day life because you will be doing something that you really love and which you believe has meaning for you. Sure, you might have to retain or you may have to take a leap and start your own business, but if it means you can be happy more often than not, it has to be worth it, right?

Declutter

Removing any excess clutter from your space will not only free up that space, but it will also free up your mind. The less clutter around you, the less cluttered your brain will be. Not only that, but you will be able to spend less time cleaning and tidying and more time doing the things you really enjoy. You will be able to relax in your space and that will definitely see your happiness levels soar.

Learn how to meditate

Meditation helps you to sort out your head, eliminate negative thoughts and find more peace in life. It is the best tool for training your brain to seek out happiness.

As you can see, the road to happiness is not as difficult to achieve as you might have imagined. Although none of us can expect to be happy 100 percent of the time, by incorporating these practices into your life you can boost your mood, feel better more often and be the happiest version of yourself possible!
